    Booths of antiques, crafts, food, plants, candles, collectibles, western attire, jewelry will be lining the sidewalks. Downtown Blackwater (free)

July 12 & 13: Depot Replica Community Center dedication. Miniature railroad exhibits. Missouri Made products for sale.


Firemen's Whole Hog Roast, August 2nd (1st Saturday in August)

    Whole hog and beef dinner with all the trimmings, including home-made desserts. Serving from 4:00 PM at Fire Station

Fall Festival: October 11th (Saturday)

    Crafts, Entertainment, Antique Booths and Food Stands, Halloween Contest (free)

 
West End Community Theatre
    Housed in a 1905 church located at 301 Doddridge Ave, Blackwater, featuring the original church pews & stained glass windows. Jay Turley, local playwright, writes and directs the plays at no cost. The troupe consists of many volunteer actors from Blackwater and neighboring towns. Proceeds to Community projects.

2008 Schedule:

    May 3 & 10: 'Blackwater News & Occasional Rumor.' True stories of Blackwater in 1908. The outspoken editor, T. M. Horne, the nosy telephone operator, the prisoners in the 'calaboose' Fun for everyone, a great show for children to learn history and enjoy it.

    June 14 & 21: 'Best of the West End Theatre Variety Show.' Comedy, skits, music. Good variety show for all ages.

    Sept. 13 & 21: 'The Grand Plan,' a comedy play, written locally.

    Nov. 8 & 15: Jay Turley's signature play, 'Orphan Train West,' the story of the homeless children sent west on trains in hopes of finding a better future. A wonderful history lesson for children.


    2:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m. performances each date.

    Theatre has central air and heat.

    Admissions $6, adult & $3, children. Tickets are available at the door; for reservations call (660) 846-4411 or 4511.

    honors Blackwater with concerts each year, normally in early December
